Madhuca indica=Mahuwa,Mohwa,Illupie-tamil or Ippa-telugu,Poonam-malyalee is the name of this tree which is a integral part of the adivasi life in the border areas between Gujarat-Madhyapradesh and every where in India.

Decidous medium height 15 m.Thick leafy crown, dark colored bark carcked -milky latex,
leaves- clustered, leathery elliptical coppery brown when tender-now this is the color we all want to see as the whole sanctuaru glows in this copper red!! as the spring arrives Vasant Panchami indeed -holi=holidyas for adivasis to collect the sweet flowers and make a great wine out of this carbohydrate dried.
We saw as we drove from vadodara -halol-pawagadh towards shivrajpur to jambughoda sanctuary, these flowers falling from the sky like ''manna from heaven'' indeed for the locals. All were busy collecting these and basketful were dried to make wine later on.see the pic.
later as the summer hots up the fruits grow fleshy ovoid, berry, densely 'rusty' 4-5 cms-1-4 seeds.they collect these too and take out the inner seed to crush and take out OIL from it which sustains them for the whole year.
Come to jambughoda snactuary and go to 1.kada dam and then to 2.Jhand hanuman temple in a jambu tree forest -jamun van!! BHim ghanti and Draupadi well is there for you to prove that pandavas were epitome of true indian hood and they are remembered all over india and thus india incuding far flung areas and tribal areas was and is emotionally culturally togather like a necklace of jewels.
Eat the local makke di roti and brinjal -potato tomato curry with minimal masal for a grand finale to this jungle trip near the temple .
