A Modern Shankara is needed NOW!!His thoughts can be applied even now if we understand its true meaning -what and where is GOD and godliness??!!
our tributes to him again...
My salutations to the ADI SHANKARA on his jayanti on the day of akshyya tritiyya,we celebrated it yesterday night .The Acharya who never asked his temples or icons constructed or paens sung .He established many torch bearers in all corners of his vast land and never confused the role of GURUS -the sign boards or marg darshak with the marg destnation itself.This is what is done since many years now and hindus are being guided to focus on the marg darshaks path pointers rather than the paths and the destination itself.The division seems more hilarious with advent of religious TV and the media .They are complicating the SIMPLE again and we need another Shankarachraya ji to be reborn to iron out hinduism again. ADI SHANKARA CHARYA was the genius whose arrival the civilisation was waiting for .We all know his body of work and his muths and unifying all sects and demystifying hinduism and Buddhism and thereby exposing the chinks in the armour of Buddhists philosophy .He brought back the converts into the main stream Indian way of life again by strength of logic and expounding well the vedic and other Hindu theories well to all then.Some experts of today believe he was active between 788 AD onwards till 32 years but Indian rishis and saints believe HE existed 5oo years before Jesus christ -BC.His body of work and sheer amount of poetry he has created makes him a great creative genius of the mankind.The range of his knowledge and ability to simplify the complicated is evident in each of his creation.His humilty as well as poking fun at false pretence of dharma and 'lesser' wisdoms applies even today.Even if all the panths leaders and paths which make a composite Hinduism just study his work well then the discrepancies and doubts about true way of life in hinduism ,the real nature of human existance and ''GOD'' would disappear.
My favourite of his work is Atma Shatakam Nirvan shatakam -''Chida nanda rupa shivo ham shivo ham''.many non hindus too would find resonance of their own dharma in it as it says that --''I -GOD do not reside in any of the form worship tantra mantra or relations or yagnas or demigods gurus etc'' .But then he goes on far ahead to expound a thought fit for today..
He says
''whenever you use all your indriyas sense and motor functions bestowed on you as a Human beings WITH SAMATWAM-A BALANCED VICHARA- FOR THE GOOD OF ALL THEN YOU- it here that I manifest.ALL THAT is good is GOD.
Surprisingly this is where he clearly defines a childlike querry of us all -
''What is.. where is GOD??''
But the learned have always kept this prayer in the back ground ,or its simple meaning is rarely talked about with as much stress as it deserves.
His other rachana NOT very well known but is a divine salute to his GURU in form of a humble prayer of his to GURU DUTTATRAYA whom he bows as a guru in --''dutattraya shri guru murti panaato asmi''-- ''You Guru are cause of arousing all my six chakras and enlighteneing me ..''in his creation called Shat chakra Jagriti Stotram.What eulogies a genius can sing for his equally wise guru can be read in this prayer where the he falls short of adjectives in praising lord Duttatraya.
There are so many who are keeping his torch alive and burning today in all corners of the land esp. in south and in dev bhoomi but even they need proper coordination to dissipate HIS thoughts clearly to the lowest common denominator of our vast populace .He was the simplifier of the complicated and we all need him now .
Till then we can offer a flower at his feet and keep our minds and heart OPEN to his and other wisdom leading the way for ALL HUMANITY..
